Yoga & Meditation Instructor, Reiki Master, Yoga Teacher Training, & Studio Owner

After a near death automobile accident in 1972, Laurie began her personal path of healing. Her journey has and continues to add to her compassionate teaching style. In 2004 Laurie opened Inner Strength Yoga and Healing Center where she enjoys sharing yoga from her heart with others that are looking for, beginning on, or continuing to explore their own personal paths to well being.

Laurie is a Certified Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance, an international registry for yoga teachers. In 2002, Laurie began her training in Healing Touch and discovered Reiki. Following her heart, Laurie became a Reiki Master and a DivinePeaceHealing Practitioner and incorporates this into her classes. Certified in Meditation, Laurie leads group meditations at Inner Strength Yoga & Healing Center on an ongoing basis.

Mary

Mary

Yoga, Meditation, & Belly Dance Instructor, Yoga Teacher Training

Mary Griffith received her Hatha Yoga certificate from Yoga Alliance accredited director, Cindy Gibbons in 2000. She has since helped develop and instruct a Teacher Training program and teaches ongoing classes at Inner Strength Yoga & Healing Center.  She is certified with Yoga Alliance at the 500 Hour Level (E-RYT 500).

She encourages her students to be present with their yoga and meditation practice to heal body, mind and emotions. She is discovering that following a spiritual path is not about avoiding pain and discomfort, but feeling and exploring our bodies, minds and hearts to come to a place of acceptance and love.

As we open up our hearts, our compassion grows for ourselves and then for all whom we come in contact with. Harmony and peace begins within. Mary is author of "Heart Wide Open, Inspirational Poems for Healing" 2004 and "Wings of Freedom, Poems from the Heart" 2009.

Trained in classical Hatha and therapeutic yoga as RYT500, Shazia teaches Hatha yoga, restorative & gentle yoga, and therapeutic yoga with compassion, love and healing in a safe and nurturing environment.  She loves to nurture people with physical limitations, size limitations, injuries, trauma, rehab, surgery recovery, seniors, pain management, or with other health challenges with therapeutic yoga that focuses on breath work (pranayama), gentle yoga, mudra, stretches, meditation and healing. There is no "right" way of doing an asana (posture); it is all about what a person needs in the present moment and where the body is willing to go. Her classes will take you to a deeper level of awareness and nurturing than just an asana class.

"Yoga has changed me, it has transformed my life, who I am, and the way I think. It has taken me way beyond the physical postures of yoga and allowed me to honor the being I see everyday in the mirror.   Life changed when I opened my heart to Ayurveda, Vegetarianism, Yoga, Meditation, and Holistic Healing. At this time in my life, I can not think of doing anything else other than help people in learning and "experiencing" yoga like I have"--Shazia

Candi                                                 Yoga Instructor

Even as a child Candi enjoyed dance and physical movement, moving into ballroom dancing and aerobics as an adult. In the early 1980's Candi began her spiritual practice of going away for 3 day meditation retreats twice a year.  Shortly thereafter she began taking yoga classes. As yoga combines physical exercise and meditation it has become her life's passion, helping her through several major life challenges.

In 2009 Candi retired after 30 years as a computer business software consultant and became certified as a yoga teacher. Candi's yoga classes emphasize the flow of energy through the body, encouraging each student to be aware of their own rhythms and experience their natural vitality.

She is registered with the Yoga Alliance and expects to be teaching and practicing yoga the rest of her life.  Candi and her husband still enjoy West Coast Swing dancing and her daughter, son-in-law and 5 grandchildren in Encinitas.

Dannette Rusnak

Dannette                                                                         Yoga Instructor

Dannette was introduced to yoga after a serious injury sidelined her from her previously active life. The practices of Gentle and Restorative Yoga nourished and healed her body while awakening her mind and spirit – and a new passion was born. Dannette’s desire to share the healing benefits of yoga led her to study with Lynda Light at Light and Love Yoga School where she received her 200-hour YTT certification. In her commitment to continue her understanding and advance her own personal practice, Dannette regularly attends workshops, classes, and events focused on therapeutic and healing yoga practices, and will soon graduate as a 500-hour RYT.

Dannette believes the power of yoga lies in the tradition’s integral understanding of the mind-body relationship. Yoga quiets the mind and creates body awareness in a way that allows healing to occur.  Dannette is committed to exploring and utilizing the many self-empowering tools of yoga to enhance, maintain, and restore the health and well-being of all her students.
